Landscaping and Maintenance FAQ

Plants

  • Your new plants were watered during installation. Starting 48 hours after completion, continue with regular watering to promote healthy root development during the first 6 weeks.

  • Water 2–3 times per week

  • Water each plant for 1–2 minutes, depending on size

  • Check soil 3–6 inches deep before watering to avoid overwatering

Trees

  • Newly planted trees require deep watering to help roots establish properly.

  • Water 2 times per week for the first 6–8 weeks

  • Apply water at the base of the tree for 10–15 minutes per session

  • Use a slow, steady flow (or tree watering bag) to allow deep soaking

  • Avoid watering too close to the trunk; aim for the root zone

Seeded Lawns

  • Consistent moisture is key for seed germination and early growth.

  • Do not water for the first 24 hours after seeding

  • Then water 3 times daily for 3–8 minutes per session

  • Keep the surface evenly moist; avoid puddling

  • First mow when ¼ of the lawn reaches 3–3.5 inches

Sodded Lawns

  • Fresh sod needs immediate and consistent watering to establish roots.

  • Water immediately after installation

  • Continue watering daily for 10–14 days

  • Ensure water penetrates through the sod into the soil below

  • First mow once sod is firmly rooted and grass reaches 3–3.5 inches

Patios & Pavers

  • No immediate maintenance is required after installation, but some natural settling may occur.

  • A light layer of sand may appear—this is normal

  • Simply sweep or gently blow with a leaf blower at a low angle

  • Avoid using pressure washers or harsh chemicals during the first few months

Established Lawn Care: Spring & Fall

  • Spring and fall are ideal for healthy lawn growth and recovery.

  • Water 2–3 times per week, depending on rainfall

  • Water deeply for 20–30 minutes per session

  • Early morning is the best time to water

  • Avoid evening watering to reduce risk of disease

Established Lawn Care: Summer

  • In summer, consistent moisture helps prevent stress from heat and sun.

  • Water 2–3 times per week, or more in dry periods

  • Each session should last 30–40 minutes to promote deep roots

  • Water in the early morning to reduce evaporation

Established Lawn Care: Extreme Heat Conditions

  • During drought or heatwaves, lawns need extra attention to stay healthy.

  • Increase watering to 3–4 times per week, if allowed by local restrictions

  • Water deeply for 30+ minutes per session

  • If your lawn begins to brown, it may be going dormant — this is natural, and watering can resume when temps cool

  • Avoid mowing grass short during peak heat to reduce stress
